Vadodara: Two Barodians captured tantric fraud, Babulal Gor, who allegedly deceived people on behalf of rituals in Vadodara in 1999.
Praveen Koradia and Dhiru Mistry hoped that the GOR charges would be a lesson for other cheats.
But their waiting for justice was 22 years old and counting when the trial for this case had not started! Reason? The police have not yet ‘track’ out GOR and produce the defendant in front of the court.
On Friday, the 70-year-old Koradia and 82-year-old Mistry were summoned by the court for the second time in connection with this case.
“In 2019, we got a call for the first time, 20 years after complaints archived! We must study in court that the police have not been able to track GOR, which remains in Ahmedabad, has not yet.
The Judge then directs the police commissioner Ahmedabad to produce the defendant before the Court,” said Mistry Toi.
“We again appeared in court on Friday but the defendant was not present.
The Judge again directed the Ahmedabad police to track GOR and produced it in court at the next trial this year,” said a documentary filmmaker and social activist winning national awards, said.
“Since 1999, I changed my residence three times after I filed a complaint against GOR at the Road J police station.
The police managed to track me and serve calls, but ironically they did not succeed in tracking GOR for years! I hope they can produce it before the court on The next hearing, “Koradia, who had trapped and arrested the accused, said.
“In 1999, an advertisement in a local newspaper caught my attention.
GOR has given a promising ad to solve people’s problems.
He lives in a hotel in Vadodara and so I approach it as a customer.
I told GOR that I wanted to buy lottery tickets to win wealth, “Koradia recalled.
“GOR told me that he would help me win the lottery and demand Rs 1,500 to do a ritual.
We have brought the police who arrested him and took him to the police station J P Police,” Koradia, who campaigned against superstitious, said.
“After submitting FIR, the Koradia was allowed to leave the police station and he had been lost since then.
We will continue to pursue this case even if it takes more years,” said Mistry.
