Mangaluru: A cheater has created a fake email ID on behalf of M Venkatesh, Managing Director, MrPL, and sent an email to employees asking for their cellphone number.
According to complaints registered at the Cyber Economics and Narcotics Police Station (CEN), several employees even responded to the letter assuming that it was from the director.
In complaints, V Muralidharan, General Manager (Security) said that on November 13, between 4pm and 5pm, a fraudster had created a fake email ID on behalf of M Venkatesh and sent an email to several employees who asked them whatsapp numbers.

A suspicious employee took him to the director’s notice.
Meanwhile, some employees who respond to letters receive WhatsApp messages from numbers that have DP MD.
Individuals who become MD MRPL have sent a message to 361 Email ID employees and around 141 of them receive it.
“We have previously warned about fake employment letters and letterheads used by fraudsters to deceive the public on behalf of work in the MRPL.
Being a central government CPSE, MRPL does all the recruitment in line with the norms set by the government,” said MrPL and Ask the public to not fall prey to job fraud.
MrPL has asked all who worry to note that all official emails from the MRPL end with the domain “@ mrpl.co.in” and no other domain used for any official communication
