Ahmedabad: In a movement aimed at reuniting a married couple separated by distance because of their posts in different locations, the Government Gujarat has come out with policies where the couple can be posted in one location by their department or organization.
The General Administration Department, around October 16, said that for couples used in state services, Panchayat services and Gujarat public sector companies, efforts must be made to ensure that they work in one possible location.
“The decision has been taken to ensure that the partner who works is not trapped in a separate life challenge because of their posts.
Their output at work is also enhanced when living together,” said K Rakesh, an additional school principal, GAD.
This order applies to all departments and they find difficulties in its implementation is to consult with GAD for further direction.
A large number of teachers in the state to benefit from this decision, but it is clearly needed in this direction, a government official said.
In the case of a husband, a minimum two-year service period is needed before they can submit a transfer and in terms of wives, the criteria are one year service.
In terms of state boards, companies and PSUs, posts often cannot be transferred.
In such cases where one pair has a job that cannot be transferred, even if the service period criteria are not met, other partners can be transferred so that they can reunite in one location, according to the round.
