Nagpur: Gadchiroli and the Yavatmal District of the Vidarbha region hopes to make rapid progress in various parameters under the central government scheme to track developments in rural areas.
The collector from the two districts was part of a video conference chaired by PM Narendra Modi where he talked about the ‘Aspirational District Schema’ of the central government and other projects to improve basic level facilities.
Gadchiroli, which was chosen as an aspirational district in 2018 itself, has succeeded in implementing projects such as educating Gadchiroli, Fulora (related to education) and is in the final stage starting the first IIT coaching center for local children.
Being part of the list of aspirational districts ensures that this district receives funds for project faster and they maximize the benefits of state and central schemes.
Niti Ayog is the Coordinating Board for the District.
Gadchiroli District Collector Sanjay Meena is now awaiting a nod for proposals involving capacity building for Sabhas gram related to community forest rights (CFR) given to them.
Forestry Rights (FRA), 2006, recognizing the rights of tribal people living in forests and other traditional forest residents to forest resources that depend on these communities depending on various needs, including livelihoods, residence and needs other socio-culture.
.
The CFR also includes the right to ‘regenerate or preserve or manage any community forest resources for sustainable use’.
“There are 1,432 grams of Sabha that have been given CFR.
We want to ensure the capacity building initiative for all these grams of Sabhas so they know the integration to the back and forward which is in harmony with their CFR.
For example, if one gram Sabha has been allocated 50 hectares of land, they must have All knowledge needed to develop the land continuously which means getting maximum results for the benefits of the community, “Meena said.
At Gadchiroli, almost 5 lakh hectares of land are now under the CFR.
For this, Gondwana University has been hanging out as a knowledge partner.
“They will prepare literature / curriculum on how to train locals.
Even if 10 people from each gram Sabha can provide training, it will bring big changes,” Meena said.
Yavatmal Amol Yedge collector is also part of a virtual meeting with PM Modi and is now looking forward to implementing projects that focus on school education.
“Our district has been selected specifically by the Ministry of Education and School literacy where focus will be in qualitative education.
In the next 15-20 days we will receive a guide on how these projects will be implemented,” Yedge said.
With almost all parts of the district under the tag of the ‘countryside’, the yedge has its duty.
“The geographical area is broad and rural bases.
With this project we hope to improve the quality of education, infrastructure, and other parameters that will be under the main performance indicators,” Yedge said.
