Guwahati: The Gahati High Court has denied pre-arrest guarantees to the former Deputy Commissioner of Salmara-Mankachar (DC) atika Sultana in connection with a case related to alleged irregularities on the designation of the village head.
Former ADC Saibar Rahman, who was accused of being accused of in this case, was arrested last year and is currently in Judicial custody in this case.
Sultana and Rahman, together with other government officials, have been suspected of carrying out gross irregularities in the appointment of village heads (Gaonborburah) and they illegally appointed 70 village heads, taking bribes of Rs 5 Lakh to each Rs 12 Lakh, Post.
During the investigation, the police found that Rahman, Sultana and other officials, including circle officers, have pampered themselves in unfair ways in the selection process, through illegal satisfaction from their favorite candidates.
The minister’s special vigilance cell submitted the Chargeshet against Rahman in the case in December and was submitted before the court that the investigation was by the extent that concerning Sultana’s involvement, which was happening and additional chargesheets would be submitted.
Sultana was looking for a pre-capture guarantee to quote seven ventral hernia operations, he had undergone an infection of 1821 and 2021 and Covid-19.
Given the nature and gravity of violations, the High Court rejected pre-capture guarantees to Sultana.
