Hyderabad: Bollywood ‘Special 26’ Starshay Kumar is an inspiration for the gang posing as an I-T official to rob a family of more than 1 kg of gold from their home in Gachibowli on Monday.
Five of the nine defendants have now been arrested.
Police Commissioner Cyberabad Stephen Raveendra on Thursday told the media that five were accused, Y Aravind, N Murali Sridhar, P Sandeep and P Mohan, was arrested from the RC Puram train station and 1,276 kg gold confiscated from them.
The defendant escaped was M Jashwanth, Sai Baba, Srinivas and C Srinivas.
All nine men come from East and West Godavari at the AP.
The plot was held by a real estate businessman who was robbed, Venkata Subramanyam itself, Jashwanth, who had worked with him as a collection agent for almost 18 months.
The police said that Jashwanth knew Aravind and Sandeep when he often visited their restaurant in the same commercial complex in Banjara Hills where Subramanyam had an office.
“Jashwanth told Aravind and several others during a drinking session about how the rich boss did not pay income tax.
Accused of then hatching plans to pose as an I-T official to rob it,” Raveendra said.
The men waited for the right time when subramanyam went to work, get into his house by flashing a fake I-t ID card that they had made and left with gold and cash before the family could recover from a surprise ‘income tax attack’.
