Prayagraj: Team with Army Intelligence (Lucknow), Special Operations Group (Narcotics) and Kareli Police on Thursday claimed to have damaged the gang that operates a fake call center and sells Sims to fraudsters and cyber criminals and arrested five members near Lal colonies in the city While planning to sell sims to the problem maker.
The police have confiscated around 1,000 SIMs and false documents from their ownership.
The people arrested were identified as Abdul Khalid from Kareli, Shriram Chaurasia from MeeraPur, Jishan Ahmad from GTB Nagar, Vikas Kesarwani from Himmatganj and Krishna Kumar from Madhwapur.
Inspector (Kareli) Anupam Sharma told the Toi that the criminals arrested had sold the SIM card to the law breaker at high prices after making fake IDs.
He added, “The criminals are experts in producing fake IDs with cellular applications and selling Sims to cyber criminals and others.
They sell at least two SIM cards on one ID.
After selling SIMs to customers with the original ID and activating it, they usually call the customer It’s the same as pretending their ID, what they have sent for SIM, has disappeared and search for other IDs for SIM card activation.
“They are also experts in producing fake IDs to sell SIM cards from leading cellular providers companies.
They supply sims activated false to cyber criminals and city-based call centers.
The police learned that hundreds of SIM cards on fake IDs were given to this call center.
Further investigations are underway, police said.
