Vadodara: Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB) has broken the racket to steal LPG from domestic and commercial cylinders and arrested six people from the city.
The police have received a tip-off that employees of two gas institutions involved in LPG theft and following illegal sales they swung into action.
Police said that the defendant worked as a son of delivery and tempo drivers in the gas agency.
One of the keys defendant Nilesh Kahar was used to divert bottle from the body and took them to an empty house in the Kishanwadi area.
Gang includes Kahar, Rajendra Maachi, Anil Vasava, Deepak Biviskar, Satish Salunke and Jaydeep picks used to steal a small portion of the LPG from the bottle.
The stolen LPG was then filled with empty bottles sold in the black market for a higher price.
The police said that Kahar was arrested for stealing and filling gas from the bottle in the past too.
PCB officials said that they had confiscated 99 LPG bottles worth Rs 1.89 lakh, three cellphones, pipes and two temples from that place.
