Nagpur: Maharashtra’s first post-mucormycosis rehabilitation center has begun in the Government Dental College (GDC) in the city.

At present, GDC has a list of 70 patients operated for post-covid musormycosis and now requires maxillofacial rehabilitation.
The first surgery was carried out with the help of monetary private companies.
From now onwards, the division administration will provide funds for the operation.
Commissioner of the Lavangare-Verma Prajaka Division confirmed this to TI.
“Rehabilitation of victims of mucormycosis is a big challenge.
This is a process and expensive patients hardly have funds to undergo the operation.
So the division government has decided to raise funds and help in need at Vidarbha,” said Commissioner Division.
Nagpur has the highest number of mukormycosis patients in Maharashtra during and after the second wave of Covid-19.
GDC only has a list of 118 patients who lose their jaws and teeth.
“We have a list of 70 patients waiting for total facial implants.
We have sent a proposal to the Division Administration.
We are ready to operate after our proposal is approved,” said Dr.
Darkar.

Varsha Mandekar said the gear and jaw implants were built using titanium, which easily fuse from Jawbone man.
“It looks like a normal teeth and jaw.
Strong titanium implants are quite sturdy and acting as natural teeth,” he said.
The success rate of titanium implants is from 95% to 98%, which is very good.
