Berlin: Stronger contact limits and accelerated amplifier campaigns are among the steps considered by German leaders ahead of the meeting on Tuesday which aims to soften the fifth wave of Koronavirus infection.
The government scientific advisor panel said in a statement on Sunday it was necessary to limit further contact, with data so far indicate that booster will not be enough to load the spread of the virus.
The North Rhine-Westphalia state minister, Hendrik Wuest, did not rule out contact restrictions on people who had been fully vaccinated or had a booster shot.
“We must be careful about governing anything,” he told Broadcaster Ard on Monday.
However, the Health Minister Karl Lauterbach had ruled out the Kuncian before Christmas and said he did not expect “hard kuncian” after the holiday too.
At the same time, Lauterbach called for a parliament to decide on vaccinations mandatory as soon as possible to stem the upcoming waves.
About 70.3% of the total German population was considered fully vaccinated, while 31.5% had received additional booster shots, according to official figures.
The German Hospital Federation (DKG) has warned the fifth wave can bring a deadly blow from severe patients and lack of great staff due to Coronavirus infection.
“In the UK and Denmark we see that high infection numbers also mean that more health care workers call for pain due to their own infection,” said Chairman Gerald Gerder.
The body of the infectious disease Robert Koch reported 16,086 new Koronavirus cases within 24 hours on Monday, the smallest increase since early November.
The death toll increased in 119 on Monday, to reach a total of 108,352.
