Berlin: The German government refused the call for good people who did not arise until the promise of vaccination and failed to cancel it before.
The head of the German Red Cross Branch, Mario Czaja, has suggested a fine of 25 to 30 euros (USD 29.65 to USD 35.60) for people who fail to appear to appointice in vaccination centers.
He said the number of such no-shows had increased in recent weeks.
His call has draw a mixed response.
Chancellor Angela Merkel spokesman Steffen Seibert said on Monday that the appointment “valuable” and begged for people to cancel if they could not save them.
But he said that “the federal government has no plans for fine.” Ministry of Health spokesman Parissa Hajebi said that “we want to motivate residents to get vaccinations and we don’t want to scare them and threaten punishment.” He said the ministry did not have information that no show was a widespread phenomenon.
Germany has given 56.5% of the population at least one vaccine was shot on Sundays and 38.9% fully vaccinated.
