Berlin: All travelers who arrive in Germany will be asked from the end of this week to show immunity from Covid-19 either from vaccines or previous infections, or present negative test results, Der Spiegel reported.
The plan, in the Ministry of Health’s paper seen by the magazine, reflects the growing concern among regional and national leaders Germany which increases coaxes at tourist destinations can help trigger the fourth wave when Germany returns from vacation.
“The incidence in Germany is currently quite low compared to other countries,” read newspapers, on Wednesday.
“Increased risk travel activity plays the trend.” Germany now requires negative tests or evidence of immunity only from those who come from what is called “risk areas”, “high incidence areas” and “virus variant areas”, which now include English, Spanish and Dutch.
Rules are now also applied differently at airports and road crossings, and regional leaders who want to make them more consistent.
Germany saw 3,142 new infections on Thursday, according to the battle agent of its main disease, Robert Koch Institute for infectious diseases.
The average new case every day in Britain stands at almost 30,000.
After a slow beginning, Germany has quickly implemented vast vaccination, with 61.3% of the population accepting at least one shot, dramatically reducing the severity and turning off the disease.
