Berlin: Germany will send up to 600 army personnel to Kabul to help evacuate German citizens and former Afghan local embassy staff.
Chancellor Angela Merkel’s cabinet on Wednesday allowed a mission that began Monday.
The German Bundestag parliament must choose a military mission also which is likely to occur next week.
Every spread of armed German soldiers must be approved by Parliament in Germany.
Usually this must happen before the commencement of the spread but in this case, because of the danger that there will be a German citizen who is exposed to Afghanistan, the cabinet and parliament are also permitted to approve the mission in retrospect, the German news assistance reports.
