Berlin: Germany classifies Spanish and Dutch as an area with the high incidence of Coronavirus, which means that travelers who are not vaccinated who return from these countries must be quarantined for at least five days.
This step came during the summer vacation from school in Germany, when many families vacationed on the Mediterranean beach Sunny in Spain or the North Sea Coast of the Netherlands.
While almost half of Germany had two Covid shots and hence freed from quarantine rules, only about 2% from the 18s which was fully vaccinated, potential headaches for the traveling family.
Spain has registered rapid growth in the number of cases diagnosed for the past few weeks.
That number jumped five times between mid-June and mid-July.
Spain recorded 624 new cases per 100,000 people in 14 days to the end of last week while the Netherlands had 670 cases, according to the center of Europe for prevention and control of the disease.
Which compares with 17 in Germany.
German quarantine requirements for travelers from high incident areas do not apply to tourists who have Covid-19 in the past six months.
Changes to Spain and the Netherlands began to apply from next Tuesday.
