Guwahati: Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has served a notification of the 66 private hospital / nursing home, which includes several top-ranked private hospitals in the city asking them to submit “residential certificates” within seven days.
Notifications have been spent for hospitals to assess construction, if there is no permission from the Civic body and thus avoid taxes.
Commissioner GMC Devasish Sharma said 30 of the 66 hospitals had answered notifications; But most of them are “unsatisfactory”.
Residential certificates stated that building construction had fulfilled the approved plan.
It was issued by the local city authority or the building proposal department as soon as the building was finished and ready to be occupied.
Simply put, without OC, your building has not been awarded “Pass Certificate”.
The Commissioner said, “We have been looking for a residential certificate to assess whether there is any construction without GMC permission.
If there is a hospital found to build without GMC permission, the penalty will be charged.
Assessment will help generate good income.
There are several buildings or construction in The city, which may avoid GMC tax by carrying out construction without permission.
“‘The Civic Agency to immediately start tracking Geo Construction’ GMC will also present similar notifications to other buildings, including private schools.
It can be mentioned that the GMC commissioner, during the interview with TOI last month, said rapid construction was the root cause behind the city-made floods.
“People have built large buildings that spread to wetlands or rivers.
Officials must be careful while giving permission to control rapid construction,” said Commissioner GMC.
The Commissioner said the Civic body would immediately start tracking Geo from construction in the city.
“GMC is doing manual inspection or construction survey.
It is not feasible to assess the construction manually in a city with around 13 Lakh populations.
GMC is now developing a system for geographical tracking construction.
This will help the Civic body assess construction and thus help in taking action or initiative, “he said.
