Panaji: The Covid-19 expert committee of the state on Monday decided to recommend to the government to reopen the school for class IX and X, and higher secondary schools.
However, it was said that the action plan in the form of the right SOP must be compiled by the government before deciding the reopening.
The school must also be given time to prepare, said the Salkar Shekhar committee member.
“The Expert Committee feels that the task force can decide when schools must be opened.
Schools must be given time to arrange seating,” Salkar said.
Members feel that the lower class should not be opened.
“However, parents can decide whether they want their children to attend online class.
Options must be given to them.
All SOPs must be developed by the government, the Expert Committee cannot do so because we do not know the school structure,” he said.
He said after about 15 days or during Diwali, the committee would assess how the settings worked, and then the decision could be made about opening the lower class.
Discussion during the meeting was limited to opening to school.
