Poinguinim: Locals have expressed fear of leachate from a garbage processing plant (GTP) in Dumanem in Canacona, maybe wash to rice fields and water bodies below and pollute them.
In 2019, Leachi from GTP was drained during heavy rainfall into rivulet, carrying garbage to the Agonda River.
Sawah in the surrounding area was also contaminated by Leachi in 2019.
The problem was also witnessed the rainy season and this could be a regular feature during heavy rains, local residents said.
