PANAJI: To keep examining customary violators, a history sheet and to ensure the security of citizens, Goa police have decided to conduct round-theclock patrols in coastal and urban areas.
The police said that additional staff had been deployed to defeat the police.
A senior officer said that the tourism season has begun in the state and patrolling along the beach belt has also increased for tourist safety and security.
The police said they would also take action against illegal activities in the tourism belt.
To curb the threat of drugs, intelligence collection has also increased, police said.
The head of the Sawant Pramod minister has directed the police to have tolerance to the threat of drugs.
Goa Police said that they would also focus on conducting narcotics raids in the state and arresting people involved in trade.
“We want to check narcotics trade, and we strengthen the power to handle drug threats,” police said.
In addition to the anti-narcotics cell (ANC) of Goa police, the police station also conducted regular narcotics raids and seized a large number of contraband goods.
Most drugs arrive at Goa from other states, and are usually consumed by tourists.
After the limitation of Covid was appointed, a large number of tourists visited Goa for a vacation.
A senior officer said that new vehicles had been allocated to the police north of the police and police for patrols.
The police said that they had added two wheels to their fleet which would help in the patrol area having narrow access.
“We have decided to strengthen the patrol to prevent crime from happening in the country,” the officer said.
Goa Police have identified more than 100 criminals who want to be external and have approached the two-district collectors to issue appropriate commands against them.
