Panaji: School registration from class I to VII fell around 3,000 during the 2020-21 academic year, which was the first school year after a punch pandemic Covid-19.
From class I to IV, registration fell more than 2,700 since the previous academic year 2019-20, and students learn from class V to VII reduced by 512, in accordance with the education statistics of the Directorate of Education (DOE) at a glance for this year.
After the first lock was implemented in 2020 to control the spread of Covid-19, the country saw an exodus of migrants employed in Goa.
This could be one of the factors that contributed to a decrease in sudden registration during 2020-21.
However, it emerged from the numbers that the general fear of the pandemic could also make students cross various parts of the community entering the school system, because the biggest decline was seen in new registrations that took place at level I.
The number of students who signed up for class, I fell as much as 2,285 students in 2020-21 during the previous year.
In 2020-21, 895 fewer girls and 1,390 boys who entered the school system in class I.
Also, registration at school showed swimming at the elementary school level of class I to IV across different institutions – the government, Assisted and personal.
From class V to VII, on the other hand, some losses in private school registration seem to produce small profits for assisted institutions.
This is possible because the power of parental expenditure is reduced, leading them to choose affordable cost structures from the government assisted schools.
However, Data DoE also shows an increase in registration that cannot be explained by around 1,700 students from class VIII to X in 2020-21 compared to 2019-20.
Most of the students’ profits last year at this level were shown at the class X level, indicating that many could return to school to finish their school.
This advantage in the amount of class X class has made school registration as a whole of class I to X in the cave from dipped in large scale despite reduced registration in the lower class.
The total number of students at school in 2020-21 in Goa was 2,38,927, compared with 2,40,450 recorded in 2019-20.
