Margao: The trial of speed running on the second trajectory newly placed in the Margao-Chandor-Curchorem (SANVORDEM) section in South Western Railway (SWR) was carried out by the Railway Safety Commissioner (CRS) Thursday night.
The train recorded a speed of 124 kmps during the trial, Pro Head, SWR, Hubbali, said Aneesh Hegde.
The Margao-Chandor-Curchorem (Sanvordem) section is part of the Hospet-Hubli-Tinaligat-Vasco double tracking project.
Previously on that day, a K Rai, a train safety commissioner (CRS), South Circle, Bangalore, carried out trolley inspections from the railroad track 15.64 km.
Motorcycle trolley inspection starts from the Curchorem train station and ends at the Margao train station.
Divisional Railway Manager, Hubbali, SWR, Arvind Malkhede, General Manager (Projects), Goa, Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL), Sashibhusan Sahoo, and senior officials from various SWR departments accompany CRS during inspection.
The source said that once CRS submitted an inspection report, the SWR would follow up on suggestions and make repairs, if any, recommended by CRS before assigning the second track.

The SWR has scheduled the work of switching from the train signaling system from a single track mode to a double track between October 3 and October 10 ahead of the commissioning of the MARGAO-CHANDOR double tracking route (SANVORDEM).
