Panaji: Goa Post Division on Friday released a special cover and special cancellation in the banana Myndoli, Harmal Chili and Goan Khaj in, making food items that are very loved from natives, part of Filaitate.
These items have recently been given a geographical indication tag (GI).
Banana Moira – or Myndoli Klime in Konkani – so named because it was believed to have been introduced to Moira Village, Bardez, by Franciscan priests.
Chili Harmal comes from Pernem, in particular, coastal village of Arambol.
Chili was introduced to Goa by the Portuguese, and many varieties are now planted locally.
Khajem (Kaddio Boddio) is a staple at church parties and village festivals in Goa.
The Cave Post Division was also released, digitally, a permanent illustrated cancellation at the Margao head post office in the hands of Pascawaster General Goa, S F H Rizvi.
Special cover and special cancellation on the sound of release, Philatel’s passport at the Goa Temple and postcards at three post-cross meetings were also released.
The release will be available at the Panaji Post Office Bureau.
