Hazaribag: a group of locals who happened to be half a dozen stone idols in Charwa Dam on Friday morning.
When the word spread, residents of Kanchanpur, Godhakhar, Charwa, Khutra and Pabra headed to the dam, brought idols to the bank and began to worship them under an emergency tent before the local police rushed to the place and confiscated idols.
Located eight kilometers from Hazaribag, Charwa Dam was built in 1952 by Damodar Valley Corporation.
To this day, the reservoir supplies drinking water to Hazaribag.
In 2012, during excavation by district administration in the reservoir command area, the Stone Dewi statue was found.
Locals built a temple nearby and installed idols, where he was worshiped even today.
Pelawal Police Department is responsible for Abhishek Kumar Singh said that the gods first seen by a group of locals who went to the dam defecation.
Idol, made of stone, was found half-submerged in the water by the bank.
“The group then returned to their places and let others know about it.
The locals then gathered on the bank and began to give a prayer,” Singh said.
Idol of Shiva Lingam restored High includes two legs made of black stone and white stone Hanuman, Parvati, Vishnu and Nandi.
Police suspect that this idol was stolen from the temples nearby and dumped in the waters of the dam, only to be retrieved later for sale.
“The idol has been seized and kept at the police station while the nearest police station has been told to share information theft in the last few weeks,” said Singh.
