Chennai: Customs official at Chennai International Airport on Tuesday morning confiscated 583 grams of gold, worth Rs 27.8 lakh, from a passenger.
Passengers are arrested.
Based on intelligence, customs officials intercept a 45-year-old man who arrived from Dubai in Emirates flight (EK-542) at 2:40 a.m.
In the personal search of passengers, four gold bundles in the form of pasta recover from its rectum.
In extraction, one ingot of 24K gold purity – weighs 583 grams and worth Rs 27.8 lakh – recovering.
It was confiscated based on Customs Law, 1962.
