Rajkot: A 51-year-old man from Gondal town of Rajkot district paid a heavy price for his lust and greed as fraudsters duped him of Rs 1.29 crore.
Ashwin Visariya was initially trapped by an offer of ‘dating and having sex with high profile women’.
Later, the fraudsters promised him higher returns on investment in their schemes and Visariya fell for both the traps.
After realizing that he was conned, Visariya, a resident of Brahmani Park, on Thursday lodged a complaint with Gondal police against 14 people — Danish Patel, Keraj Bhati, Arthav Yagnik, Shiva Bakshi, Abhishek Antony, Kamlesh, Kaushal, Alpesh, Keshav, Rohan, Pavar, Nimesh Soni and Ramesh and others under various sections including cheating and criminal conspiracy.
Police have launched a probe on the basis of bank account numbers in which Visariya deposited money and mobile numbers from which he received phone calls.
Visariya is a farmer and also owns earth moving machines.
In February last year, Visariya received a message on his mobile asking if he was interested in dating and having sex with high profile women.
After Visariya replied in affirmative, the fraudsters contacted him through Whatsapp call and he paid Rs 2,500 as membership fees of the dating club.
Later, Visariya became a VIP member by paying more money.
But when he got nothing in return, Visariya started asking for refund.
The fraudsters then asked him to invest in the schemes floated by them to get higher returns.
Visariya even sent money through an angadia firm and eventually lost Rs 1.29 crore.
