Google Reach Content Offers with German Publishers

Berlin: Google said this Friday has signed an agreement with several major German publishers to avoid copyright disputes for their material use.
The internet giant said it reached an agreement with the publisher including Der Spiegel and Die Zeit news visits, golem and Netzwelt technology portals, as well as the publication of the Wirtschafte business and Magazin manager.
“Many conversations with various publishers are on the sophisticated stage,” Google added in a statement.
This step occurred after Germany introduced new additional copyright laws in June which gave the publisher of additional rights to their content.
The new law makes a difference between the use of a very short extract – called footage – and the preview is expanded, but does not determine where the line between the two.
The agreement between Google and the publisher is intended to avoid expensive and long legal demands for the difference.
Google says payments to the publisher will be “based on established copyright principles and follows consistent criteria,” without describing.
