Udupi: Two class X students from the Charamakki Narayana Shetty Government, Albadi Ardi, Kundapur, have developed a gas savings kit (GSK) for use in the kitchen.
This project has secured fourth place in the CSIR Innovation award for school children 2021 and is the only one from the state to features between the top 14 projects.
Anusha and Rakshitha rose, who developed this kit, said that the kit would help save tons of LPG.
“My mother is special that there is no waste when using a gas stove.
This forces me to think of steps to save gas,” Anusha said.
Explain the project, he said, “GSK is placed on gas burners and ships used for cooking placed on it.
GSK consists of a metal frame, and has copper rolls so that water can easily flow through it.
This coil has two ends.
One end Connect to ordinary taps, and when water passes through the coil, hot water can be collected in a bucket and used to take a shower, because the food is cooked.
This kit costs around Rs 625 to be produced, and economically, because it can save electricity bills and investments in the geyser.

Our assessment shows that by running gas for about 10 minutes, we can get around 13 liters of hot water to take a shower, using GSK.

This project has been developed with the help of Shetthar Shettigar’s Headmaster and Science Teacher Vyshali Rao G has become a project guide.
Shrikanth Teacher Shrikanth Nayak and Physical Education Teacher Proise Tholar helps students to gather material to make GSK.
Ramesh R and Sumaratha Mathematics teachers help students with mathematical calculations from copper tubes, diameter, water flow, and other parameters, and Social Sciences Teachers Suresh Marakal Saibakatte plays an important role in designing and welding.
Teachers include Uday Shetty, Malini K R and Malathhi, and Clerk Jyothsna guide students in the project documentation.
“The kit has been tested practically both at school and at my house.
We are trying to get a patent for the kit, and GSK is being set,” said Suresh Marakal Saibakatte.
