Austin: The Governor of the Republic of Texas on Thursday told Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin that the state would not direct members of the National Guard to comply with the Biden Administration order that requires all members of the military to be vaccinated for a growing mandate.

Greg Abbott, who has been one of the nation’s governor who spoke most in the refusal of the vaccine mandate in any form, said the Texas National Guard in October that more than 20,000 members were included in the executive order that prohibited government entities.

Abbott’s latest beef with the Biden government came after five other GOP governors sent Austin a lighter letter this week urged him to reconsider the requirements for guard members on the state’s active task, when they were under the orders of their governor but still funded by the federal government.
The Governor of the Oklahoma Republic has sued the Department of Defense on the vaccine mandate, and Abbott shows that Texas can do the same.
“If the guards who are not vaccinated suffer bad consequences in the country of Texas, they will only have the President of Biden and his government to be blamed,” Abbott said.
Both Abbott and Guard Texas immediately responded to questions about the number of vaccinated members.
Lisa Lawrence, spokesman for the Department of Defense, said they would respond to letters from Abbott and other governors in time.
