Lucknow: With the arrest of seven people including Gram Pradhan, Police Rae Bareli on Wednesday claimed to have damaged the gang that supplied illegal liquor which led to the death of 11 people in the Maharajanj area in Rae Bareli.
Those who were arrested were identified as Jaiswal Vinay, Anil Jaiswal, Sandeep Jaiswal, Ajit Singh aka Annu Verma, Akhand Pratap Singh aka Rajan, Kunwar Praveen Singh aka Ketan and Arshad.
They were arrested on the informer tip-off of Maharajanj.
The police also confiscated two SUVs, Van Carriage and 5,000 bottles with ‘Windies’ wrappers and ‘Lalpari’ liquor stored in the SUV.
The police said that three defendants also had criminal cases – Kunwar Praveen Singh with five cases, Akhand Pratap Singh with two cases and ajit singh with three cases.
Police supervisors, Rae Bareli, Shlok Kumar said that the gang leader of six was identified as Naveen Jaiswal, who had seven criminal cases and was still running away.

Kumar said that during the interrogation, the defendant said that Naveen was the leader of the main gang that had prepared forbidden liquor and then other people including Jaiswal Vinay and Jaiswal’s annealed to various districts.
The defendant said that after the liquor that was falsified was prepared, the fake label and QR code were trapped in the bottle called ‘Windies’, the officer said.
“Anil Jaiswal (which is a cousin of Naveen Jaiswal) has an ancestral business making forbidden liquor,” the officer said.
On a decisive day, Vinay and Sandeep had taken illegal liquor in the SUV police station area to Maharajanj and gave it to Kunwar Praveen Singh and Akhand Pratap Singh.
The same liquor was served to people in Paharpur on January 25, killing 11 while 27 others were sick.
