Athens: Greece reported the leap in the Daily Covid-19 infection on Tuesday after weeks declining numbers that encouraged the authorities to lift most of the country’s coronavirus restrictions.
Public health authorities reported 1,797 new daily cases on Tuesday, more than doubled from 801 cases reported on Monday, so the total infection was at 429,144.
Covid’s related deaths have reached 12,754.
Greece, very dependent on tourism, has raised most restrictions for travel and entertainment and covering masks that wear rules in open spaces when the case falls.
But health experts voiced concerns against the Coronavirus and Delta variants that were more contagious after infection began to increase again in the past few days.
? Health officials said on Tuesday that many new positive test cases were young people, which were much less likely to fall sick.
About 38% of Greek populations that meet the requirements are fully vaccinated so far and the government has offered incentives to encourage more people to get the opportunity because they want to bring that rates to at least 70% in the fall.
Locking since November has a billions of euros to the Greek economy that emerged from a long crisis.
The government has said that it will not close the economy again because of the pandemic if it is only to protect the minority that is not vaccinated.
