Growth of 47% in Jan Sgst collection

Bhubaneswar: Odisha recorded around 47% of growth in the GST Country Collection (SGST) in January because the total collection during the month was estimated at RS 1143 Crore compared to RS 777 Crore collected in 2021.
The highest growth rate among all the main states, said Source official.
The numbers released by the GST commissioner’s office on Thursday said the total collection of SGST until January the financial year is currently estimated at Rs 10,239 Crore compared to RS 6,556 Crore in the financial year 2020-21.
Similarly, the total collection of SGST until January 2019-20 financial year was set at RS 7,131 Crore from January was Rs 3,995 Crore compared to RS 3,137 Crore collected in January, last year, thus registering a growth of 27.35%.
Growth of GST During the current financial year is a result of better management and restaying control by a circle combined with law enforcement activities, which have resulted in better compliance by taxpayers, said a senior GST official.
The official said that as many as 39,725 new taxpayers had been brought under GST folds during the current financial year.
The GST commissioner’s office has also made a two-month drive specifically for surveys and registration of all potential GST and professional taxpayers throughout the state, while as many as 19,000 people were contacted by state tax officers during the trip.
As far as the VAT collection of oil products and liquor during January was worried, the total collection was set at RS 853 Crore against RS 835 Crore collected in January last year.
