Ahmedabad: Of the 700 odd Covid patients received at a civil hospital in Ahmedabad in January, 52% were not vaccinated and 9% were partially vaccinated, the hospital authorities said.
“The remaining 39% is fully vaccinated,” said Dr.
Rakesh Joshi, hospital medical supervisor.
“While vaccination does not stop infection, they must have severity and mortality.” A big hospital in four big cities Gujarat presented a strong case for vaccination.
On average, around 60% of patients who need hospitalization are not fully vaccinated, experts say.
This ratio is slightly higher in government hospitals, while in private hospitals ratio around 30-40%, they add.
In hospitals managed by the government in Ahmedabad, 70% and 75% of patients on the ventilator and bipap machines were not fully vaccinated.
The majority is above 50 and long because of Jab.
In the letter, of 87 patients who needed oxygen or ventilator support, 27 were not vaccinated and 19 were partially vaccinated.
While vaccination status for 11 is unknown, only 30 are fully vaccinated.
Dr.
Ranjan Aiyer, medical supervisors from the SSG Run Hospital in Vadodara, said that more than 50% of Covid patients were not fully vaccinated.
“Of the 50%, half does not take vaccinations at all.
Fortunately, the majority have a minor illness,” he said.
Doctor Rajkot said that around 50% of Covid patients at the government hospital were not vaccinated or some vaccinated.
Dr.
Presta Kaman, President of the Medical Association of Rajkot, said: “About 30% of patients in private hospitals are not vaccinated or some vaccinated.” There are currently 80 patients at the PDU government hospital.
Dr.
R Trivedi, a hospital medical supervisor, said that most patients who needed oxygen support or ventilators were not vaccinated.
