Vadodara: In a complex operation that lasts two and a half hours, a 27-year-old woman from Madhya Pradesh (MP) gets rid of the kidney mass with a size of six kg and its size is more than 20 cm which occupies almost two of her stomach.
Histopathological examination reveals that it is a wilms tumor.
The patient knows about the abdominal mass that increases rapidly only after he has a miscarriage.
He has amenorrhea, a condition where women do not have a menstrual period.
“After the pregnancy test was positive, the woman was told that she had a pregnancy.
But even after her miscarriage, a lump remained.
He consulted with many clinics and hospitals and was in trouble due to pain and pressure caused by massive lumps,” said Dr.
Dipayan Nandy, Onco surgeon in Parul Seevasham Hospital (PSH).
CT Scan and MRI at PSH revealed the presence of a large mass in the Lumbar Left region involving the left kidney and the adrenal gland.
“The challenge is to remove the masses without damaging critical organs such as pancreas, spleen, large intestine, stomach, bending duodeno-jejunal, aorta and the left diaphragm,” said Dr.
Nandy.
“Even though Wilmms Tumor is a kind of childhood cancer that starts in the kidneys, in a case that is very rarely found in adults,” Nandy said, adding that less than 1% of all kidney tumors in adults was a wilms tumor.
