Ahmedabad: Strong explosion in the recycling unit recycling in the city of upleta from the Gujarat Rajkot district killed the owner of the facilities and his son on Friday, police said.
While the police have been called experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) here to find out the exact cause of the explosion, it is believed that the explosion occurred when the duo’s father tried to cut open compressors from the old refrigerator using a gas cutter.
The deceased was identified as Razaq Kana and his son Raes Kana, said the police.
The small scrap recycling unit, which is owned by Razaq Kana, is located in the area of tableware in the city of upleta, about 300 km from here.
After the incident, the Rajkot District Supervisor from Police Balman Meena along with other senior officials rushed to the place and launched an investigation.
“A strong explosion occurred when the shop owner and his son dismantled used material on Friday morning.
Both Razak and Raes died in that place.
Because we have found the compressor section in the store, there is a possibility of effort to cut it.
Open caused an explosion,” Meena told reporters .
