Ahemdabad: The Government of Gujarat on Monday announced that the registration number can be maintained by the owner even after the vehicle is sold or removed, and can be transferred at a cost specified for the new vehicle purchased by it.
Make an announcement, Transport Minister Gujarat Purnesh Modi said such a system was already in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, and had been introduced here after representation of the vehicle owner.
“People are attached to their vehicle registration numbers for several reasons, such as religious or numerological beliefs.
Now, the owner in Gujarat can save the number even after selling a vehicle or canceling it,” he said.
“The detained number can be transferred to the new vehicle purchased by the owner.
However, it cannot be used for old vehicles or already registered.
Next, the owner and make both vehicles must be the same.

He clarified that the number of vehicles that have been shaken cannot be maintained now, and, especially, the applicant must have a vehicle for at least one year to qualify for retention numbers.
The process of maintaining the old number and transferring it to the newly purchased vehicle must be completed in 15 days.
The cost for retention numbers for two wheels is Rs 8,000 for luxury numbers ‘Golden Category’, Rs 3,500 for ‘silver’ luxury numbers and Rs 2,000 for other numbers.
The cost for cars and four-wheeled cars starts with RS 40,000 for the Golden category, Rs 15,000 for silver and 8,000 Rs for all other numbers.
