Ahmedabad: While Gujarat reported three violations of rape every two days, the city of Ahmedabad reported one every five days, in 2021.
Data from CID crime revealed that there were 81 rape reported in the country and 566 in the state.
The number of violations of rape in the state increased by 15% compared to 2020, when 493 was reported in the state.
In Ahmedabad City, there were 78 rape cases reported in 2020.
In the city of Letters, the number of rape cases almost doubled in 2021 to 52 to 27 in 2020.
Even Gandhinagar’s state capital reported a 150% increase in rape cases in 2021 , 10, against four years in 2020.
Senior police officers said in most cases, the perpetrators were neighbors or someone who lived in the same area.
The officer said the majority of cases involved girls between 15 and 18 years, where complaints of rape were laws such as victims.
Former Gujarat State Minister for Pradipshinh Jadeja’s house told the State Assembly, “in cities in particular, Girls of the ages 16 to 18 years Elope, and rape cases are listed in such cases.” The senior police officer said that of the 566 cases registered in 2021, around 10% of the victims were a little girl under the age of 13.
Officers said that in some cases, a family member was accused of rape.
Officers said that the number of rape cases in 2021 was even higher than the number in 2019, pre-pandemic.
In 2019, the country has reported 493 rape cases.
In Ahmedabad, the number of rape cases submitted in 2021 was three more than 2020 and the same as the number of 2019.
The number for two years was the highest in the last six years.
