LAGOS: Nigerian security forces are looking for armed gangs that killed 47 people in attacks in the past few days in rural areas in the northwest of the country, the latest murder in a problematic area.
The attack took place in the state of Northwest Kaduna, the neighbor of the capital city of Nigeria, Abuja, Commissioner of Kaduna for Samuuwan Aruwan’s security was confirmed.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack but they were suspected by bandit gangs that have killed at least 2,500 people in the northwest and the middle countries so far by 2021, according to statistics compiled by the US Council in foreign relations.
The attack has increased in the past three months so that the death toll for a year is expected to increase.
Most of the armed groups consisted of young people from the Fulanani ethnic group which traditionally worked as a nomadic cow shepherd and had been trapped in conflict over the decades with the HUSA agricultural community for access to water and grazing.
Security forces were deployed after the attack patrolled in an affected area, but no arrest announced and detail still appeared.
Locals reported that the attackers went berserk for hours in several villages.
Nine people were killed in three criminals on Friday, according to Kaduna Commissioner Aruwan, reminders of how armed groups could carry out prolonged attacks in remote locations where assistance was often postponed as a result of an inadequate security presence.
38 more people killed on Sunday by attackers in other parts of Kaduna, Aruwan confirmed.
Houses, trucks and cars are burned, along with agricultural products on several farms, he said.
Sustainable violence in the northwestern region of Nigeria has opposed the steps introduced by the authorities including the spread of thousands of security forces to restore peace in hotspots of violence and the recent appointment of terrorist groups as a terrorist organization.
The part of the problem is that the Nigerian military was excessive in the war for a decade against Islamic extremist rebels in the northeastern region.
Boko Haram and Offshoot rebels, Islamic countries in West Africa Province were reported to have infiltrated the Northwest Armed Bandits because they tried to expand their influence and control, according to local authorities.
