Gurugram: A 60-year-old man died and four family members sustained burn injury in a fire broken in their room in the sector 45 after a two-wheeled electric battery exploded on Thursday night.
Although it is not clear what might cause an explosion, it resulted in blankets and other family items such as clothing and TV quickly capturing fire.
API, in fact, broke around 11pm when Semesh Sahu, the owner of the tea stall, his wife Reena and their three children, aged 13 to 25 years, were sleeping in their small room in Kanhai Ramanda Village.
Hearing a family desperate shout to help and see smoke out of the room, neighbors rushed to save them.
But when the neighbors bring the family out by breaking a small window window, Suresh is dead.
Their wives and three children – Manoj (25), Saroj (18) and Anuj (14) – were rushed to the demon hospital in subconscious conditions.
Initially from Bihar, Suresh had lived with his family in Gurgaon for the past few years.
Manoj and Saroj worked as a maid in a shop, while Anuj was a student.
“We originally tried to open the door of their room, but was locked up from inside.
The room was filled with smoke because the family could not open it from inside.
We finally broke the window panel to save them.
It took us and the fire tender almost an hour to put out the fire, “Semesh’s neighbor said.
Station House Officer of Sector 40 Police Station, Inspector Kuldeep Dahiya said that Saroj and Anuj were removed from the hospital while Reena and Manoj were still under treatment.
“The electric two-wheeled battery exploded when charging triggered fire.
Surensh’s body was handed over to the family after autopsy.” Dr.
Deepak Mathur, a forensic expert from a civil hospital, said Suresh died of limply but he also suffered 70% burns.
“The room was filled with smoke in a few minutes from the fire when the door and window were closed,” he said.
