Gurugram: The air quality in Gurugram slips into the ‘very poor’ category on Monday, with AQI up to 396 of 227 in the ‘poor’ category on Sunday.
The city has recorded 334 and 296 indices on Saturdays and Fridays respectively.
At present, local pollutants and meteorological factors have an impact on AQI, according to the state pollution control agency Haryana (HSPCB).
“At present, unfavorable meteorological conditions do not allow pollutants to spread.
Local pollutants are also responsible, but all institutions work on the ground to reduce air pollution,” said Kuldeep Singh, regional officers, HSPCB, Gurgaon.
In the coming days, winds tend to decrease, which can prevent dispersion of effective pollutants and more lower AQI.
The minimum temperature is recorded at 11.9 degrees Celsius on Sundays and the maximum is 23.6 degrees Celsius.
According to the Meterorology Department of India (IMD), in the future, the region will witness foggy days.
The minimum temperature is likely to fall gradually leading to a more stable atmosphere, reducing convective mixing, in accordance with the air quality system and weather forecasting and research (Safar).
The clean effect is that air quality will remain in the ‘poor’ category at the top or ‘very poor’.
On December 8 and 9, the weather is estimated low and AQI is likely to remain in the ‘very poor’ category.
The height of low mixing layers will remain a factor in the dominance, prevent efficient dispersion pollutants.
