Gurugram: A 52-year-old man, who was declared to have passed the brain after bleeding on Wednesday, gave a new lease of life to three people who received their organs.
While the patient comes from Gurugram, the three recipients belong to Delhi.
The patient was received at Fortis Hospital near Huda City Center on September 21 after he suffered the episode of weakness on his right body along with speech surgery.
It was diagnosed as intracranial bleeding, which means bleeding in the skull, with a midline shift.
After that, the patient wore ventilator support.
After he was declared dead, the family agreed to contribute both kidneys and his heart.
“Organization of organ transplants and national networks (notto) allocates organs to three recipients – two waiting patients in Fortis, Turugram, accepting the heart and one kidney while a patient at Delhi Hospital personally gets a second kidney,” said a toi hospital official.
Dr.
Anil Mandhani, Executive Director, Urology and Kidney Transplant, Fortis, and his team conducted a procedure to take both kidneys while the team’s heart apart from a private hospital took the heart.
One of the kidneys is transplanted in Fortis to become a 60-year-old woman.
The second kidney and heart are allocated for 51-year-old women and the 54-year-old man in two Delhi hospitals.
Dr.
Mandhani added that patients who received the kidneys did not have living donors and had struggled in dialysis for a long time.
“This soft donation action has given them new leases.
It must encourage everyone to advance and register for organ donations,” he said.
