New Delhi: The government on Friday recognizes in parliament that there are some “unintentional errors” in the list of people’s names – which have been given a Covid vaccination certificate – while they die or do not receive vaccines.
In return for the questions raised by MP Trinamool Abhishek Banerjee Congress, Minister of Health Junior Bharti Pawar “in occasional insulated cases, vaccination certificates are produced for those who die or those who do not receive vaccines that day”.
He said, “These cases are caused by unintentional data entry errors by vaccinators in the update of the second dose vaccination data.” The ministry also said in accordance with operational guidelines, “every beneficiary for verification before administration of vaccines …
to ensure legitimate beneficiaries receive vaccine doses and no abuse”.
In a separate answer, Pawar said the government also received reports on Covid-19 vaccination camps and fake vaccines from Maharashtra, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.
“The Ministry of Health has directed the state government to investigate this agency and take strict legal and administrative actions so that such fraud activities are not repeated in the future,” he said.
Minister of Health Mansukh Mandaviya also asked questions about the status of the booster dose.
He also stressed that India had given the first dose of Covid vaccine to a population that qualified 86%.
