New Delhi: A few days ago, when some social media users complained about the problem in archiving again because of the “disk error”, the tax department moved quickly and approached them.
With a problem that survives, gets his team to hold a video call with several taxpayers to resolve the problem.
This is not the first time such a strategy has been used – is being done regularly.
“We get around 9,000 calls every day in our call center on various problems.
We also use social media to reach out to those who do not contact us,” explained an officer.
With infosys that plug in some gaps considered when the new portal was launched earlier this year, the department made every possible effort to ensure a glitch-free archiving experience.
It has been based on the war space, which is set to become an effort of 24×7, with 75-100 members – from the tax department and team representing hardware and application vendors – available to resolve the earliest problem.
This number of years is significantly more than 30-35 people who are in work usually, said a senior officer.
With the deadline of the archiving approaching immediately, the department’s wing system also coordinates closely with other partners such as Uidai, GSTN, NSDL and the Bank to ensure that there is no downtime and the archiving process smoothly.
While officials said there was no plan to extend the deadline outside December 31, the department was trying to answer several FAQs for the next few days through the video module.
“People have a query and this year, because the annual information system, more data is available for them.
We will help with the entire archiving process,” explained an official, adding that the idea was to make taxpayers to submit a refund well on time .
To beat in a hurry it was seen over the past few days.
Often, the taxpayer approaches the call center to get a password or return form that they must use on the last day.
“If you do it very late, we might have a capacity problem in solving it quickly.
So, it’s best to do all that now and the earliest file,” the officer said.
While around six lakh returns are submitted every day, the amount is set to jump various in the next few days.
