Health Staff Make Zika, Nipah at Bay: Minister

Coimbatore: Minister of Health MA Subramanian on Sunday said efforts taken by health staff in villages on the border of TN-Kerala helped keep the Nipah and Zika virus entering the country.
While taking stock of drives of mass vaccination in Polachi on Sunday, said the Minister when he learned about the outbreak of the Nipah and Zika virus in Kerala, he had visited the villages bordering Kerala near Walakay in July this year.
“Health officials then drives the eradication of mosquitoes and sensitive villagers with the spread of the virus.
That’s because of the efforts of health staff that viruses like Zika and Nipah cannot enter our country,” Minister said.
Meanwhile, the district recorded 215 fresh Covid-19 cases on Sunday against 201 cases on Saturday.
A total of four deaths were reported on Sunday, taking victims to 2,317 in the district.
A total of 217 people were dismissed on Sundays, leaving a total of 2198 active cases under care.
In the Tirupur district, 95 new cases of Covid-19 new cases were reported on Sundays.
With one death reported in the district on Sunday, the victim had reached 947 in the district.
A total of 97 people run out after treatment on Sunday, leaving a total of 900 active cases in care.
