Nagpur: City Police on Saturday issued a notification that prohibits heavy vehicles in Pardi Chowk where traffic transfer and poor road conditions because the ongoing infrastructure work makes a stiff challenge.
Now, heavy vehicles come from Hyderabad, Jabalpur, Raipur and other places must take a detour about 30 km.
In accordance with the latest notifications issued by DCP Traffic Sarang Awad, heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter Pardi until January 17 next year.
This has been done to help the National Highway Authority (NHAI) and Mahametro to complete their earliest project.
Nhai was building a flyover that was done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014.
The project was supposed to be completed in 2019 but was extended until December 2021.
Now, NHAI has set a new deadline in January 2022.

Until August this year, the intersection had witnessed nine deaths in eight fatal accidents while 11 others were injured in six serious accidents.
Amitesh Kumar City Police Chief said the decision was taken to divert heavy vehicles to accelerate the work spread across 9 km.
“Meeting with public representatives, government institutions, private and other contractors were held last week where traffic transfer was discussed.
We told private contractors to keep their equipment and material ready so that the delayed work could be resolved at the war footing,” he said.
BJP MLA from Nagpur East Krishna Khopde said the flyover in Pardi was the structure of five arms.
“Heavy vehicles must be prohibited to facilitate work.
There is no doubt that the work suffers because of the attitude of indifferent private officials and contractors but has now collected the momentum and the project can be completed by the end of the year,” Khopde said.

“It takes one and a half hours to travel from Prajapati Nagar Chowk to Pardi.
The local population has suffered over the past five years.
We will now hit a road in protest,” Pandey said.
NL Yeotkar, NHAI project director, said Rotary was planned at Pardi Chowk with two concrete roads.
“Because of the continuous rain, the project was delayed this year.
Concrete roads while being placed but also damaged in heavy rain,” Yeotkar said and added that now work will be monitored every day to ensure it accelerated.
Mahametro only brought work in Metro Prajapati Nagar while the rest of the work was over, according to his spokesman.
“The ongoing work will be completed in December.
Mahametro took all steps to minimize traffic obstruction and ensure the security of the driver,” said the spokesman.
The source said that the agency faced uphill tasks in the procurement of permits to dig and manage underground cables and pipelines from different utilities.
