New Delhi: Last year, although some of the cutoff lists and special drives, almost 5.6% of the chairs were weaker (EWS) remained empty at the University of Delhi (DU).
One of the main reasons is high cutoff for category and non-availability of EWS certificates because of covid pandemics.
This year, the first cutoff for this category, stated on Friday by Delhi University, only 0.50-0.75 percentage points are less than the unreserved category.
Cutoff for other backward (OBC) class categories in most popular colleges is higher or similar to the EWS category.
For example, in Hindu College, the general cutoff in history (Honors) is 99.5%, while 98% for the EWS category and 98.5% for OBC.
Last year, for EWS and OBC, a similar cutoff at 97.5%, while 98.75% for the Unreserved category.
In Hansraj College, the general cutoff for philosophy is at 98 percent; for EWS, at 95 percent; and for OBC, at 97 percent.
Last year, Cutoff had 96.5 percent, 96% and 95.75% respectively.
In Janki Devi Memorial College, universities outside the campus, the general cutoff for the economy is 96.5 percent and 95 percent for EWS and OBC.
In 2020, it was 97% for general candidates, 96.5% for EWS and 95% for OBC.
“For the EWS category, we get fewer students, therefore the percentage of chairs is also lacking for them.
In the OBC category, more seats, and we also get enough candidates,” said the head of Ramanujan College.
“Cutoff changes are made later according to the acceptance trend,” he added.
This year, Agarwal hopes, it will not be difficult to fill the EWS seat because the certificate must be made now.
The Humanities Course usually sees more changes than trade and science courses.
Reservations 10 Percent of EWS are implemented in DU in 2019 and 15 percent of the rest in 2020.
For non-cream OBC layers, 27 percent of seats are reserved.
“Aspirants that have been applied under the OBC category have a good score compared to EWS candidates.
We step carefully in repairing the first list.
Depending on the acceptance in the first two lists, we will know the actual situation,” said the headmaster.
However, Kumar Ashutosh, the teacher at the College of Vocational Studies, felt the CUTOFF EWS was still high.
“In my tourism department, the CUTOFF EWS remained high unreasonably.
Last year, it was difficult to fill the chair,” he said.
For BA in tourism, the EWS candidate requires 86.5% due to 90% for general candidates.
For OBC, 85%.
