Rajkot: With full swing construction work, Greenfield Airport in Hirasar from Rajkot is expected to start operating in March 2023.
Until now, 55% of Earth’s work and 48% of the runway and other sidewalk jobs have been completed, declared released from the Indian Airport Authority ( AAI) on Thursday.
The airport, is located about 30 km from the city on the Ahmedabad-Rajkot highway, expected to increase the growth of the Saurashtra area industry.
Industrial Brass Industry Jamnagar and ceramic Morbi depend on Rajkot for air connectivity.
Bypass roads from both goals to reach this airport have been built.
The airport is being developed at a cost of 1,400 crore and terminals will be able to handle 1,300 passengers during rush hour.
The airport, spread in 1,032 hectares, will have all modern facilities for passengers.
“The terminal will have advanced passenger facilities, four passenger boarding bridges, three conveyor belts and 20 check-in counters along with the fire extinguisher and modern fire alarm,” the broadcast said.
There are plans to develop a large parking space.
The airport foundation length is 3040 m thus allowing landing and take off from the type of aircraft B777-300ER and B747-400.
The airport will be able to park 14 aircraft at a certain time.
According to AAI, the design of the Hirasar airport was influenced by the existing Rajkot Palace such as the Ranjit Vilas Palace.
