WASHINGTON: The decline in the US unemployment rate reported in December job data marked “historic day for our economic recovery,” President Joe Biden said Friday.
Unemployment fell to 3.9 percent last month, the Labor Department said, but the number of positions added far less than analyst estimates, and some economic fears can spill work in the coming months as an Omicron variant of the Covid-19 business hits.
