Gandhinagar: At the meeting of the First General Council of the Corporation of the Municipal Gandhinagar (GMC) on Thursday, the BJP Board of BJP Hitesh Makwana was chosen without a reposition as a new mayor in the state of Gandhinagar.
This time, the Mayor Gandhinagar post for the first two and a half years have been reserved for a canporator of the scheduled caste (SC) category.
The Mayor of the five capitals, Makwana will remain at the post for two and a half years, after a woman who will be chosen as the mayor for the remaining time in accordance with the guidelines set.
“I thank BJP and his leadership for giving me this responsibility.
The city of Gandhinagar was developed extensively by our predecessors.
Now, we will expand this development into 18 villages and the municipality of Pethapur, just added to GMC,” Makwana said told reporters .
The new Mayor of Gandhinagar is the son of the former BJP MLA Punakhai Makwana and Husband actress Roma Manek.
During the meeting, BJP Corporator Premalsinh’s goal was selected as the new Deputy Mayor of Gandhinagar, while Jaswant Patel became the chairman of the Committee.
In the polls that were recently held to GMC, the BJP, which was in power to defend strength by winning 41 out of a total of 44 seats from 10 wards, freed the Congress Party and Aam Aadmi with a large margin.
While the congress won two seats, AAP only won a chair.
Since the beginning of GMC in 2010, this is the first time BJP won a clear victory in the GMC election.
In the first election held in 2011, Congress has won the majority, won 18 seats, while BJP won 15.
However, three members of the Congress council defected BJP, gave him the majority in GMC.
In the second election in 2016, BJP and Congress were tied to 16 seats respectively.
A member of the Congress Council Pravin Patel defected BJP, and was rewarded with the Mayor’s post.
