Honda has unveiled the new 2022 Monkey bike in the international markets.
The new upgraded model gets a new air-cooled engine for 2022, with 5-speed gearbox and EURO5 compliance with new exhaust and improved suspension.
The engine of new Monkey is Euro-5-compliant, 5-speed gearbox, 124cc air-cooled which delivers 6.9kW power and 11Nm torque.
The new model features a reshaped airbox.
The exhaust muffler has been replaced by a new unit with a single chamber.
The engine also features offset cylinder, roller-rocker valve gear and advanced internals with low-friction coatings, giving the mileage of 1.5 litres/100km.
Other key exterior features of the new Monkey include full LED lighting along with the indicators, an LCD instrument console and an ‘answer back’ feature on the bike that makes the lights flash at the push of a button.
It also gets tweaked suspension, two-stage springs for the dual rear shocks which smooth the ride and a tubular steel rack.
The Monkey is embedded with a steel backbone frame with a USD fork at the front and new twin shock absorbers at the back.
Braking system comprises of a 220mm disc at the front and a 190mm disc at the back.
It also carries the ABS safety kit with an inertial measurement unit (IMU).
It carries the same chromed high-rise handlebars and frame, swingarm, body-coloured shock absorbers, single-seat, and a peanut-shaped fuel tank, from the previous model.
The Monkey’s weight has dropped from 107 kg to 104 kg, making it lighter and resulting in a power to weight ratio of 88.46hp/ton.
The 2022 Monkey 125 will be available in three colour schemes namely, pearl glittering blue (new for 2022), banana yellow and pearl nebula red.
