Howrah: Bodies that are soaked in the blood of three family members – a businessman, wife and daughter – found in the first floor flat in Liluah in Howrah on Saturday night.
The main investigation has indicated a decline in the business and the financial crisis encouraged entrepreneurs to kill their families and then commit suicide.
On Saturday afternoon, locals saw a stench of apartments in Belgaachhia, Liluah.
They called the businessman, Abhijit Das, but the phone was missed.
They reminded the police who opened the door to find the body.
The body of Abhijit (47) depends on the ceiling, while his wife Debjani (42) is covered in bed linen in the adjacent room.
The body soaked in blood from their daughter Samrajni (13) lay on the floor.
“The door to the house was locked from inside.
The police opened the door and found a decomposed body.
Apparently, Abhijit killed his wife and daughter with a hammer and then, hung himself.
However, we did not rule out another possibility,” said Anupam Singh DC (North) City Police Howrah.
The hammer was found near the corpse but was not found a suicide note.
Mother Das, who has a separate flats on the ground floor, is in their village, police said.
Das-in-law’s father Mrityunjay Mitra said, “I was told that they were on vacation.
Three of them traveled frequently.
They will be back on Monday.” Neighbors said the watershed had an industrial gas supply unit in Howrah.
