Ahmedabad: It seems that Ahmedabad is one of the big hubs of Bogus Billing fraud in Gujarat.
In fact, 93% of input tax loans claimed illegally (ITC) from all districts were recorded at Ahmedabad, according to the data submitted in the Gujarat Assembly on Tuesday.
Fake billing fraud has been reported from time to time in Gujarat.
Over the past few years, ITC is worth at least RS 206.1 Crore has been illegally claimed by fraudsters in four districts.
Of this number, RS 192.25 Crore ITC is claimed to use a fake bill from Ahmedabad only.
About 1,109 people from Ahmedabad illegally obtained ITC worth RS 192.25 Crore using fake bills.
Other districts where fake billing fraud reportedly included Kutch (Rs 12.75 Crore), Anand (Rs 0.13 Crore), and Kheda (Rs 0.97 Crore).
A total of 1,151 people were involved in using fake bills to cheatly claim ITC to avoid taxes for the past two years.
